Rocket Band of Blue presents trophies to school

By Rhonda Poole

Marshall County School System

What a year it has been for the Forrest Rocket Band of Blue junior/high school marching band.  The team, under the direction of Billy Bateman, has received accolades and praise everywhere they have performed, including from their own classmates at Forrest Middle/High School. That praise was evident recently as the band presented two tables-full of trophies won over the past few months.

The morning celebration began with the introduction of the 2007 Rocket Band of Blue members:

Flutes & Clarinets -- Madeline Bell, Kimber Luna, Taylor Blanchett, Crystal Cannon, Rachel Harris, Kim Meacham;

Trumpets -- Brooke Russell, Caleb Boone, Lauren Eatherly, Tyler Hargrove, Tyler Mierecki, Tyler Williams;

Brass -- Jared Blanchett, Paul Caraglio, Matt Kline, Jana Blunkall, Jed Hall, Shawna Crafton, Bryan Hartley, Travis Ryder;

French Horns & Saxes -- Stacey Byrd, Devin Barnes, Brianna LaFleur, Sam Hartley, Sarah Stemple, Lindsey Gaskill;

Drum Line -- Jon Fleet, Josh Hall, Gunner Warlick, James Luna, Audra Mobley, Matt Cryer, Zach Brown;

Guard -- Megan Baker, Amber Scott, Katie Freeman, Chelsea Moore, Amber Barnes, Lauren French;

Pit -- Brittani Stewart, Keisha Sherrill, Sara Lubieski, Reilly Rowland, Learyn Miller;

Two tables groaned with the weight of the trophies won by the Rocket Band of Blue this past season.

  Field Commanders --
Bethany Gamble, Taylor Herron; and

Manager -- Jessie Baker.

Following the introductions, among cheers and applause, the Band of Blue presented trophies to principal Mike Bishop and assistant principal Rocky Bowden for display in the school.  The tables groaned with the weight of the awards, which included the coveted "Tennessee Division I State Marching Band Champion" trophy.

Once the trophy presentations were made, band members gathered on the gym floor for a rousing performance from their "Phantom of the Opera" show. To cap off the program, Representative Eddie Bass presented a proclamation from the Tennessee General Assembly congratulating the Forrest Rocket Band of Blue on their highly successful season.
