Buying lunch at school may be the first time many children have a choice about what foods they will eat. Luckily, the school cafeterias serve healthy dishes, good in taste and nutrition. The Food Service Department, lead by Larissa Delk, works hard to steer kids toward good choices by serving nutritious lunches that give students the energy to finish the school day. Mrs. Delk, working with her school cafeteria managers, encourages children to choose meals that include fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains.

Below are some facts about the benefits of Marshall County’s lunch program:

· The school lunch program makes it possible for all school children to receive a nutritious lunch.

· The school program offers parents a convenient way to provide a nutritious lunch for their children at the lowest possible price.

· Research shows that when a child’s nutritional needs are met, the child is more attentive in class., has better attendance, and fewer discipline problems.
