Title I

Title I is a federal program to help all students that are in danger of not meeting state standards. Its goal is to help these students get a good education.

Title I funds are allocated to school systems based on:

          1.  Children ages 5-17 that the U.S. Census estimated living in poverty in 2004.
          2.  Children reported living in neglected or delinquent facilities.
          3.  Children reported living in foster homes.

The Title I Central Office Staff consists of one full-time Director, and one full-time Secretary.

Title I serves four school-wide schools. They are Marshall Elementary, Westhills Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary, and Cornersville Elementary. School-wide programs benefit the entire school, not just selected students. Goals of school-wide programs include:

          *Helping all students reach high standards.
          *Challenging students to be the best they can be.
          *Preparing students for the complex world of today and tomorrow.

Title II

Title II consists of 2 parts. Part A addresses teacher quality and class size reduction. Part D allocations are focused on educational technology.

Title III

The Title III funds are utilized in English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement, and Academic Achievement. These Federal Funds are allocated to address English as a Second Language (ESL) or English Language Learners (ELL) students.

Title IV

The Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act of 1994 are federal funds for school-based programs designed to reduce youth alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and to prevent youth violence.

Title V

Title V Federal funds are used to meet the needs of our schools. Currently, funds are being utilized for staff development and materials and supplies. Often times, Title V is used to implement innovative assistance programs.
